Mission Code:

What had been a boring day was suddenly turning at least slightly interesting; Galene had just been wondering around when she heard the first cries for help coming from the nearby park area. It wasn't even much of a park, really; just a cluster of old trees with a few benches and a small koi pond in it. The type of place people sat to relax for a moment, or watch the colorful fish. It wasn't the type of place you'd normally expect to run into a lot of children, nor any sort of real excitement. Until that moment, she had been on the main street idly window shopping, she was in need of new clothing, but was short on ryo for the moment, so she was rather restricted in her purchasing power. That didn't bother her much, she had plenty of whatever she needed at home; anything she was to buy that day would have been superfluous and accessory to her main wardrobe. Nothing important.

Her focus on the cries for help however were. While a much better swimmer than runner, she was by no means slow; and was one of the first to arrive on scene. A small child dressed in wildly expensive clothing, face covered in tear stains already and blubbering up a storm; hiccuping out a plea for help that was being treated like a circus act by many of the others that crowded near her. Her plea was simple: "Someone save my kitty!" Something that just about anyone in any kind of physical shape could do, given the tree the little beast had climbed into. It wasn't very tall, nor was it all that vertical; one of those beloved trees from childhood that acted like a set of stairs for the kids that couldn't climb like monkeys, but wanted to get off the ground for whatever reasons. Galene was actually a little stunned at the lack of compassion being shown to the girl; she couldn't be more than seven or eight years old and people where using her as entertainment. Damn civilians.

"Hey now, don't cry there little one. I'll help you. Kitties like me, I should be able to get 'm down pretty easily." She patted the girls shoulder before walking to the tree and working her way up. She was no child, and far heavier than she once was. That didn't mean much though; she was a ninja and ninja had their own ways of climbing up trees. Oh, she wasn't walking right up it like some Jounin or something, but she definitely wasn't going to fall. She was moving in a crouch, like someone that was climbing sort of normally, and in a way that wouldn't spook the kitten more. She was plenty stuck to the tree thanks to her anemone tentacles sticking to the bark, both legs and her left arm enough to keep her fastened securely while leaving her 'normal' right arm to hold the cat.

"Here kitty... come to Galene kitty... I have a nice treat for you..." Not really true, but she smelled of fish, and she was hoping that would lure the bugger toward her. The hissing and arched back of the kitten spoke otherwise; at least at first. A gust of wind changed things though, it wafted her fishy smell toward the kitten and all but had the little thing flying into her arms mewling for treats. Wonderful. "Good Kitty. Let's get you down first, kay?" She wrapped the loose cloth that hung from her arm around the kitten and made her way down nice and easy, trying hard not to spook the kitten worse. She was barely on the ground when the little girl was pawing at her kitten and trying to pull her away, back to crying almost hysterically and screaming something that sounded like 'thank you!" over and over again.

"Well, that works." An older man had appeared while Galene was up in the tree, and he was moving toward the girl with all the ease of an obvious father. Well, that, and they shared the same blonde hair and green eyes. "Thank you for getting her kitten down; she'll accidentally scare the poor thing and it likes to run up into high places. A bad situation, but she loves her kitten." In the background the sounds of a kitten mrowing in desperation could be heard, a sign they needed to get home before it took off again. "Yes, well... thank you again for your help. Your superiors at the nearby Jounin Station have your reward waiting."

"...." Oh, this was a mission, then? He must have been coming back from submitting the request when she was climbing the tree. "Er yes, right. Of course. Wasn't even thinking of that; but that would likely be something to do. Have a good day, sir." She barely remembered to grab the mission stub from the man before she skittered off; half way to embarrassed by her little discovery and suddenly remembering a cute little broach she'd seen before that she was now thinking of grabbing.

Ah, window shopping. She needed to do it more often.
