Appearance! Height: 5.9 ft / 1.80 m Weight: 176 lbs / 80 kg Hair Color: Dark red colored. Eye Color: Blue colored General Description: Yasu's long red hair and blue eyes are often his most prominent features. His face is usually seen as good-looking by most, and needless to say, he is well aware of this. Also, due to his laidback personality, it is not uncommon for him to hold a smirk. His overall figure, however, is even more attractive, having been gifted with a well toned body over the several years he has thrown away into the arts of Kenjutsu, fighting, and overall general physical exercise. The stature he possesses emits a feeling of agility and physical prowess, and anybody meeting him will often become well aware of this at first glance. Yasu's regular ninja attire consists of a dark brown shirt with no sleeves, combined with a pair of black long shorts and dark blue ninja sandals. Yasu's red colored ninja "headband" is actually usually worn around his waist as a belt of sorts, instead of on his forehead as typical. The remaining items on his person are the dark red handwraps he typically wears, along with elbow bands of the same color. He also possesses a small number of arm bracelets, these usually being of a dark gold color. He has several of these in his left arm, although he has another, single one, although on a far bigger scale, in his right arm. These serve no defensive or offensive purpose at all, and are simply cosmetic. As for casual attire, they vary greatly on the day and mood of Yasu, though often they will consist of long duster coats, as well as regular long shorts and sandals. It is not uncommon for Yasu to wear his ninja attire under the duster coat that's covering it, just in order to make it practicable for him to quickly switch to it should the need arrive. Needless to say, even his casual attire will often favor darker colors instead of brighter ones. About You! Personality: At first glance, Yasu will appear as nothing more than a mere cocky, showoff youngster with a crazy spirit, and even crazier habits. While most Shinobi usually tend to keep themselves conserved and professional, he, on the other hand, tends to be the exact polar opposite, often mouthing off in the most inappropriate of times, and engaging in the most extreme activities that life has to offer, or "pleasures", as he calls them. Needless to say, these can range from drinking himself drunk just before a meeting with the Kage, to partying for days without rest, to picking up random chicks on the street, to challenging the Sensei in a fight just for the hell of it! He has a very wild behavior, and even though he knows when to take things seriously (or as seriously as he can), he views that life is to be lived to the fullest. He does not hold an instantly aggressive attitude towards those he meets at all, and in fact can be quite friendly unless the person is either straight out annoying, uptight, or holds questionable ethics. He is also not constantly drunk, more so in official ninja duties; although he'd wish he'd be. In his free time, however, it is more common than not to find him at least slightly intoxicated during his doings. Yasu also loves fighting, particularly the ways of the sword, and is constantly seeking to improve himself in order to further jump towards that thrill. Even though he knows his limitations, he often prefers to behave in a very cocky, showoff manner, often taunting his opponent and, if possible, even "toying" with him, and in the case of an enemy, even attempting to cause as much fear and intimidation as possible. He only kills if he absolutely must, but once again, he'd rather make himself look otherwise. Nevertheless, he knows when to admit he has lost, even if by then it is too late, and do so in a joking fashion. All of this, however, does not mean that Yasu is a careless or even "evil" type of person. He values his closest friends and peers above anything else, and is extremely loyal to his village. He would do anything to protect all of these, and therefore, knows how to behave seriously if the situation at hand proves itself to be that important. He keeps a laidback view on things, and when everybody else is in shock due to bad news, he is often the first to joke about it in a sarcastic manner, even if he himself is as equally affected. Yasu will never hesitate to help out those weaker than him and in need. Likes: Firstly, Looking "cool" and in the best way possible to everybody else is something that Yasu almost constantly strives for, being the showoff that he is. After that there's fighting, and basically acquiring the power to do so, both due to being able to protect that and those he cares about, and self-achievement. And aside from that, pretty much anything that involves the extremes of life; partying, heavy drinking, conquering girls, anything you can imagine. Trying out new things is definitely a treat for Yasu, as long as it's not something entirely and too overly ridiculous; other than that, he will gladly accept any offers you throw at him. He also greatly loves the art of swordsmanship and anything involving swords, having grown being taught all about it due to his family and consequently learning to love it, and even consider it the "coolest" way to fight. And also worth mentioning, is how even though Yasu more or less neglects his inner talent for Genjutsu and prefers to keep it a secret, he also does like to use it to overpower his opponents and have himself "toy" them through its use. Dislikes: Yasu mainly dislikes the ideas of imprisonment, lack of freedom, and abusive actions by authority figures, or just those stronger. With his wild, free spirit and personality, he wants to be able to live his life the way he wants to, without any strict, oppressive rules preventing him from doing so. He likes to be in control of his own life, fate and destiny, and not be merely a pawn at somebody else's hands. On another point, Yasu also knows how to follow orders, but it will annoy him greatly if the higher ranked just treat him and his friends as if they were mere tools or slaves, in which case he will need a bit of effort to keep himself from pointing that out. Also, and needless to say, he also dislikes anything bad involving or happening to those he cares about, and would much rather make sure something like that doesn't happen. On the other hand, he also heavily dislikes having no power over a certain matter, and therefore being unable and powerless to do what he wants. People who annoy or scold him are also a big no by his book. Motivations: Yasu's main motivation to improve himself as a Shinobi is his overall loyalty to the village and his desire to protect it and those he deems as worthy. Having, in a way, been "adopted" by the village, he feels he should give something back and be able to help it and protect it; although, if the time comes where Kirigakure changes for the worst and becomes oppressive and evil against its people, he will know how to throw away his own loyalty in favor of attempting to change his home back to its benevolent ways. The same goes for his friends; even though Yasu would never abandon them, he's never afraid of pointing out whether someone has changed or has become questionable in his ways. Finally, Even Yasu has always had an inner lust for power due to merely wanting to be "the best" at what he loves to do, and to be able to honor his family and mainly his father. However, beneath the surface, he also largely wants it so that he may be able to fight and protect what he wants to when the need arrives, and without having to fear becoming powerless. Fears: Although he often considers himself fearless and attempts to appear as such to others, Yasu does have them, much like anybody else. Firstly, Yasu greatly fears lack of power and ability. Like one would imagine, Yasu fears the loss of those closest to him, and being powerless to do anything to prevent so. He fears being unable to protect his village and his "people", and becoming weak and useless. On the other hand, though, he also dreads the village changing for the worst, becoming abusive against its own people and restricting the inhabitants doings. He fears being robbed of his freedom to do what he wants, and again, being a mere "pawn" in somebody else's game, lacking any type of control over his own fate and life. History: - Pre-graduation Arc:
Yasu's early life is not all that clear, due to a series of factors. Firstly, even though he was born in Mizu no Kuni, he was not so in the village of Kirigakure, and was instead brought there by his alleged father late one night, still a baby. This man was a mysterious person, having never been seen in the village before, and with a large posture, long hair and beard, nobody knew who he was. Nevertheless, he didn't seem to have any particular long-term purpose there, and he only made his stay there long enough to drop Yasu off at the local orphanage. He left shortly after, and rumor is it that when the guards at the gate attempted to confront him, he singlehandedly outmaneuvered them and left them with no possible reaction to prevent him from leaving. The guards have always denied this, but some claim this was merely something they'd say to excuse their failing at their duties.
Nevertheless, luck seemed to be in Yasu's life for the time being, for it didn't take long before he was adopted into a loving family. This particular family was one made up of respected Samurais, and even though they had been partially forgotten due to their outdated ways in favor of the Shinobi, they believed Yasu would be the one to once again prove how truly capable a pure Samurai was in battle. They wanted him to be trained in the ways, and even though they were extremely strict in this, Yasu grew up loving this newfound family, often forgetting or simply failing to care that he was adopted.
However, as the youngster grew up, they soon began to realize how much of an abnormal character he was. Leaving the fact that he was a troublesome one and often engaged in rather reckless activities aside, he did dedicate himself to the arts of the sword... although not the ones that were expected. Instead of the traditional Katana, Yasu favored greatswords and longswords, weapons not uncommon but not typically used in the family. This was frowned upon, but nevertheless accepted. What was not accepted, however, was how Yasu continued to fail the Academy exam, year after year. His own personal final exam usually consisted of a spar with the local instructor, with the goal being to land a hit on him in less than a minute, or proving so, with wooden swords being the weapon used.
Yasu began this series of trial-and-error at the young age of ten, and with every year passing, despite all his efforts, he could not prove himself a capable enough Samurai, much to his family's, mainly his father's, increasing disappointment. Needless to say, he had neglected all the arts of combat besides swordsmanship, and therefore ignoring the chakra-based ways of the Shinobi further moved him away from success. Finally, one year, after being unable to take any more humiliation and disappointment, his father launched him an ultimatum; he was to either finally pass the Academy Exam, or consider himself exiled from the family and to live on the streets. For an entire year, Yasu further dedicated himself wholeheartedly to his training, honing his techniques everyday and rarely leaving time for anything else. When the day came though, and despite all of his efforts and even progression, he once again failed, and everything was in vain. Despite the rest of the family's pleads for the contrary, an infuriated and saddened father kicked Yasu out of the house with nothing but the clothes on his back, forcing the youngster into a life as an outcast.
Living on the streets was, needless to say, a constant battle for survival. To be able to get food and water, Yasu often had to resort to stealing, something that was made nearly impossible in the richer sectors, that were often guarded by capable Shinobi. It was for this same reason that he moved to the more poor parts of the Village, where crime was already a more normal habit, and therefore was easier. Even here, though, something so simple as surviving wasn't always easy, and it was only when he met and began to hang with a small group of people like himself, that he started to learn how to survive as easily as he could, and adapt. This group was made up of boys and girls just like him, who had been kicked out of their homes, or had ran away from them, or simply could not afford to live under better conditions, or the harsh ones from the orphanage. For them, stealing supplies imperative for survival was a common habit, something that made Yasu's life easier.
Just merely this, though, did not mean that surviving in such a place was a walk in the park. Often daily, Yasu and his friends would have to defend themselves from gangs, punks, thugs, thieves, along with every other danger alike, and as such, fighting was a constant. Training under a professional, in a safe and controlled environment is one thing; however, what you learn from a constant battle for survival is entirely different. This is not only applicable to his physical skills, for in fact, what Yasu would learn from this would be what could be best described as his inner talent.
One night, as not too rare, the youngster got himself into yet another fight. This one, however, was of a special type, simply because his opponent was not just any regular punk; he was considered one of the most dangerous and ruthless street criminals around, a large, clearly ridiculously strong man who had it out for Yasu ever since the troublemaker had made himself known. Whenever he'd get confronted by this towering giant and his army of thugs, Yasu and his friends would swiftly run away and make their escape, but this one time, when one of the unluckiest of the bunch slipped and managed to get caught, the youngster couldn't leave one of their own behind. So as he turned around and charged at the bigger opponent, Yasu was immediately outmatched by the criminal's sheer strength and size, with the latter quickly throwing the kid back. A few minutes had passed after the fight had broken out, and the youngest of the two was clearly losing the fight, with a broken arm, a lot of visible bruises, and blood running wild. It was only when Yasu was laying down, and his opponent was about to administer the final blow, that the unthinkable happened; even to this day, he cannot fully explain why he did what he did. It was as if instinct had kicked in. With only a vague memory of what an old homeless man had taught him, Yasu recalled to what was supposed to be a "Genjutsu" technique. He did not fully understand it, yet was able to do the necessary handseals with only his remaining usable hand. Suddenly, from one moment to the other, the proud, grinning giant who was about to win the fight forever, stepped back, and his facial expression immediately shifted from joy to fear, and this wasn't just slightly; as he kept staring ahead of him, it was as if he was witnessing what he had always dreaded the most. Tears filled his eyes, and pretty soon the man was in a fetus position, covering his head with both hands as he begged for his life. Seeing this as his opportunity, Yasu stood up, grinning with a bloody mouth as he taunted the rest of the man's gang. Needless to say, they all began to run, some claiming tales of demons, others of monsters, others unable to find a reason to explain what had happened at all. Obviously, most of these tales were exaggerated, and what had occurred was merely a basic Genjutsu technique applied to one who did not have even the simplest of trainings to counter it.
After that, Yasu was never seen the same by his group of friends; but that doesn't mean it was for the worse. In fact, all of his companions were now convinced that he had an inner talent for combat, and that he would make an excellent Shinobi. Yasu, having long abandoned the idea and hopes of pursuing a life as a ninja, had his mind turned around by his peers, and decided to attempt his graduation to a Genin one last time.
So when the day came, the instructors were clearly surprised by the youngster's appearance, but nevertheless decided to give him a chance. What occurred was further surprise, as they soon realized how much faster and stronger he was since last time, and how he was actually proving to be more than capable to pass this once. Yasu clearly did not want to pull any punches, though, and with a quick few handseals with his left hand as he rushed forward, he performed the same Genjutsu that he had performed on the previous attacker, placing his own instructor under his worse's nightmares. Luckily, such a horrible state only lasted a second or two, for it was enough for Yasu to land a good hit on the elder's jaw, the pain forcing him out of the illusion. The punch wasn't anything powerful, but it fulfilled the requirements; and at the end of the day, the aspiring illusionist was finally a Genin.
Yasu did not hesitate, did not think twice. He went straight back home and knocked on the door. The surprise on his mother's face, when she opened the door, and saw his own grinning son, holding a Genin headband, is still indescribable. His father didn't believe it at first, yet quickly fell into tears and hugged his long-missing kid soon after. The family was back together.
- Genin Arc:
Now as a fully fleshed Shinobi, Yasu was eager to do his duty in aiding and protecting his village, and for this purpose went on several missions and tasks. However, much to his disappointment, most of these were lower ranked ones, meaning that he would often have to perform the most mundane of works, something that a hothead such as himself obviously did not look joyfully upon. Further more, he was brought into a team made up of Genins such as himself, something that would be no problem for him, if it weren't for the fact that the other members were ethically questionable at best. Having adopted the Kirigakure traditional cold ways of ruthlessness, they did not shy away from taking innocent lives, entirely needless brutal torture, or other inhuman acts. As such, this often made Yasu an active outcast of the group, wanting to have nothing to do with such needless barbarities and frequently rebelling against his peers.
However, soon, the Chuunin Exams began to approach, something that Yasu's entire team wanted to take advantage of. It was during this training period that the group finally began to bond, as they were all forced to prepare together, and as such relentlessly attempted to outdo each other without rest. This in turn transformed into helping each other, and the three consequently entered the Exams united, all sharing the goal of coming out as Chuunins, or not coming out at all.
The Chuunin Exams, back then, had been especially brutal that year. Even deaths of participants had been confirmed, and the fights often lacked responsible vigilance. As already mentioned, Yasu had grown fond of his peers at this point, and therefore, it was much to his own disappointment and sadness when he witnessed their unfortunate demises at the hands of much tougher and better prepared opponents. They put up a brilliant fight, but it was all pointless in the end. And Yasu himself also seemed to have to go down the same path, for already heavily bruised, injured, and bloody, he would've met his own fall as well if it hadn't been for his own inner talent for the arts of Genjutsu, having been forced to rely on them in his life-or-death situation, combined with his also impressive Kenjutsu. It was a tough test of battle skill, but despite being on the verge of the Afterlife by the end of it, he managed to acquire his headband, and come out a Chuunin. But of course, it was a shame that his teammates had not managed to have been so successful.
- Chuunin Arc:
Now having nobody but himself, Yasu resumed his work for the village, now performing more important objectives. By then, after his impressive display of determination at the Exams, word of his powerful capabilities with both sword and illusion were beginning to spread. As a person, he was known as a party-boy, a drunk, and a ladies man. But as a Shinobi, he was much more feared and respected. Those who spoke of him often claimed that, when fighting him, it was impossible to determine what was real or not; if the unbearably painful wound on your chest was merely an illusion with the purpose of distraction, or if that limb of yours that had just been cut clean was in fact lost forever. Either way, he would always toy with both your body and your mind, taunting you as you doubted everything and everybody, and as fear would consequently take over.
With such tales being commonly passed around, his reputation eventually started to get to the higher authorities of the Village itself, and, despite his reckless behavior, he began to get charged with more responsible missions and duties. Hunting, scouting, retrieving, killing, all of these were often performed all by himself, with no expected outside help, and were all often met with impressive results. He would continue doing such respectable work, and eventually, with no reasons to doubt his outstanding talent and skill, the Mizukage finally brought himself to officially promote him to Jounin status, and Yasu consequently earned his place as one of the Village's most worthy Shinobis. RP Sample: Yasu was in a long, dark hallway, with several paintings on the walls of bulls and cows. Scratching his head, he mumbled, "Did I take those 'shrooms again...?", before he proceeded down his way. Slowly, the paintings began to disintegrate, and the very floor below him suddenly fell apart, having him fall down into what appeared to be a pool of pink colored water. Once submerged, he quickly swam up, only to realize he was surrounded by unicorns and rainbows. "You can't be serious." He stated with a serious tone. It was then that the heavy sound of approaching footsteps began to become audible, as if something big was incoming. Soon, a literal Tyrannosaurus-Rex dinosaur appeared from behind a giant bush, and proceeded to open his mouth as he charged at Yasu. The latter, quickly swimming away, decided to dive under the water and find himself an exit; something that he did not, and was forced to swim back up for air. However, once done so, he realized he was in an entirely different place already, with several bloody rabbit dolls surrounding the pool, facing him. With nothing else to do, Yasu climbed up and out of it, yet the dolls proved to be animate, as they'd turn to continuously keep staring at the youngster. This proved to be a lesser problem, however, as soon, the sound of what appeared to be a sword scraping along the floor began to become audible. As Yasu turned around, a large, muscular, but nightmarish humanoid creature with a large pyramid head, was making its way towards him. And with a fast and powerful movement, the creature swung its sword. Suddenly, Yasu wakes up from his bed, taking a long and deep, but casual breath as he puts himself into a seating position. Looking around, he was in his own room, at almost dawn, with everything seemingly normal. "I gotta stop drinking so much..." he mumbled under his breath before he laid back down and went back to sleep. Faceclaim: Hwoarang, Tekken franchise | |
