About You!
Personality: Mysterious...if there was one word to describe Kuro. He spends most of his time in the shadows, further harnessing his ability to manipulate and control them. He rarely ever says a word, speaking only to family and close friends, and even these occasions are rare. If it happens to be someone he doesn't know, one would think Kuro was a mute. In the rare instances that Kuro does speak, he talks with the wisdom of someone doubled his age to be so young. With his face being a stoic, unreadable mask, he rarely ever shows any emotion besides irritation or anger. Kuro was one who kept to himself, feeling that associating with too many people would bring loud noises, disgusting smells, and unneeded drama. Most described him to be funny acting, an asshole, a retard. But those who knew him only said that he was different, or misunderstood. It took a lot to get underneath Kuro's skin, but god help the individual who did. One would think that Kuro didn't care about anyone or anything, but should his family or the few friends he did happen to have be harmed or threatened, Kuro would fly into an uncontrollable frenzy. Most of the time though, Kuro showed a passion for enhancing his Shadow Style.
Likes: There wasn't much that Kuro liked. Of the few things he did take a liking to, one of them, the most obvious, had to be reading. He could almost always be found somewhere reading something; a comic book, a manga, even a dictionary. Kuro had read half of the library in his family's home by the time he was 9 years old. Perhaps it was because of his extensive reading and research that he seemed to be so wise - on the very rare occasions that he spoke - and even smarter than that of his parents. Besides reading, Kuro liked to practice his Shadow Style, as well as all of his abilities, sharpening himself into a deadly sword.
Dislikes: Kuro did not like loud people, or loud noises in general. As a male, his hormones forced him to have a taste for the opposite sex of course, but only in books, where they were still and silent. Actual females, excluding his family members, got on Kuro's nerves. Always talking, always whining, always complaining. Always worried about their hair and nails, and gossiping about that mute kid in the back. Kuro did not like crowds of people. He did not like individuals with bad breath, or who did not bathe. Bad smells in general was something Kuro loathed with a passion.
Motivations: Motivations...Kuro's had to be waking up to see another day, to read another book, to learn a new Shadow Style Technique, to test them against an enemy or another worthy foe. He wanted to be stronger and smarter than any who'd come before him. A major motivation had to be the chance to travel the world one day, and experience other villages, other cultures, other fighting styles and ninja techniques. His main motivation, that had to be reaching the heights of his clan and unlocking the untapped potential within him that hadn't been seen in the likes of the Nara in centuries.
Fears: Kuro did not scare easily. He was frighteningly aware of the world and everything around him, so it was nearly impossible to surprise Kuro, even if he were deep into one of his books. Obviously, having been trained in the Nara's trademark Shadow Style since the time he could walk, he was well capable of defending himself, and wasn't scared of another person, be it someone his age or full grown. Leaving the world before his time had to be one of the things that shook him up. Never being able to realize his potential, or failing to reach those heights within his clan had to be another.
History: In the village known as Konohagakure, clan Nara's numbers are vast, and they are one of the most renown clans of the village. One of the elders of the Nara developed a rivalry with the elder of another, lesser known clan. These two elders were once squad mates and developed a rivalry that stretched on for decades, all stemming over the hand of a female, the 3rd member of their squad. Fierce battles and small wars raged. The Kunoichi was devastated; she'd developed feelings for both, but she could not choose between the two. When the elder of the lesser clan kidnapped her and the elder Nara came to her rescue after single-handedly fighting his way through more than half of the lesser elder's forces, her choice became obvious.
A dramatic battle would follow between the two elders who were once squad mates and friends, with the elder Nara eventually prevailing. Nine months would pass, and the Kunoichi gave birth to a baby girl. From the time of her birth, it seemed she was destined to become a powerful Kunoichi much like her mother, and also destined to inherit her terrible legacy. When she came of age, she was put onto a squad with 2 other boys who both eventually developed feelings for her. Just like her mother, she was unable to choose between the two. The boys went from being the best of friends to the most bitter of enemies, both determined to have the hand of the Nara Kunoichi. After years pass and the 3 graduate the academy to become full fledged Shinobi, with the Kunoichi blossoming into a beautiful woman much like her mother, the time came when one of the boys decided to desert the village and become a Missing-Nin and criminal.
Much like her mother, the Kunoichi was kidnapped and held against her will. A rescue attempt was mounted, and the 2 Shinobi who were once friends fought a duel to the death over her hand. The Missing-Nin was felled and the Kunoichi rescued, and the two, much like her parents before her, became an item...Their kids, and their kid's kids would relive this tale for many generations; the tale of two boys who were friends becoming enemies, fighting for the hand of a beautiful young woman. At least, until the constant fight and battles drove certain sects of future generations of Nara clan members to leave the Land of Fire and relocate to new surroundings; namely to The Land of Clouds, Kumogakure.
But even there, it seemed that this story would continue on, at least until the birth of one Kuro Nara, a soon-to-be asocial individual who would seem to break this cycle of fighting over a girl. (
Asociality refers to the lack of motivation to engage in social interaction, or a preference for solitary activities. Developmental psychologists use the synonyms nonsocial, unsocial, and social disinterest. Asociality is distinct from but not mutually exclusive to anti-social behavior, in which the latter implies an active misanthropy or antagonism toward other people or the general social order.) Kuro started off as a happy cheerful child with a bright outlook on the future, aspiring to become a legendary shinobi, just like all the kids of his generation did. Inheriting the trademark Shadow Style of the Nara clan, even as a small child Kuro began to display a high intelligence and a prowess with the clan's techniques that hadn't been seen in a long time. He made many friends quickly and, at first, seemed to be just like any other aspiring Genin. His parents were confident that he would join a squad and continue on with their family's storied past.
Kuro did quite well in his early academy days. He was average; he did just well enough to pass his exams and tests. At first, he wasn't anyone very special, nor was he a flunkie; Kuro was somewhere right in the middle. He wasn't very good at fighting, nor was he an expert at illusions or anything of the like; as he began to mature, Kuro started to stand out as a brain, a tactician. His mind was his greatest weapon, and his greatest skill quickly began to be known to get inside the heads of his enemies to outsmart them. Clan heads and village leaders began to see big things for the Nara as time went on.
...That is, until one night he himself over-heard the story of his family's past: the story of how he and those before him came to be. With the revelation that all of those before him fought battles and started potential wars against their best friends because of a girl, Kuro's whole outlook and demeanor changed dramatically. It was safe to assume that Kuro did not like the story he'd eavesdropped upon. Deciding that a female wouldn't determine how his life would turn out, Kuro became withdrawn and emotionless, never showing any feelings besides those of anger, irritation, and on the very rare occasion, rage. He didn't get too close to others, nor did he ever let anyone get too close to him, and because of such, many of the friends he'd made were lost.
From an early age, it looked as if the famed love story would end with him, for he showed no interest in anything other than reading comic books and developing his Shadow Style. He rarely ever said a word, and mostly kept to himself. His parents wondered and worried if something were wrong with him, and how he'd become so..."off," for lack of a better word. His mother would often try baiting him onto certain girls so that their famed story would continue, but Kuro was never interested. Even when he was put onto a squad with another male and female, he would rarely interact with them, save for assignments. Kuro's responses when their sensei asked his team their dreams and hopes for the future were very vague and shallow. Confrontations with hostile elements was where their team shined. Kuro displayed a very high intelligence and a knack for outsmarting his enemies, often defeating them with little to no effort. It was mostly because of Kuro that their team survived the Chuunin Exams.
Kuro saved the lives of his squad mates and even their sensei on several occasions. Mission after mission went by, and their team was always successful, mostly due to the efforts of Kuro. Most of the time, the whole team returned without a scratch, or with very minimal injuries. The Kunoichi of their squad began to develop feelings for Kuro, because of the times he saved her as well as the squad, and especially with Kuro's mother, desperate to keep the story going, tracking her down to encounter and befriend her, telling her of their family's past history, but these feelings were one sided, for Kuro, despite saving her from being killed or turned into a slave several times, never really seemed interested, and rarely ever said a word to her. With the knowledge of his family's past, he had no desire to fight his fellow male squad mate and invited him to make his move on her if he wanted, but the Kunoichi seemed more interested in Kuro than he.
It seemed that the two of them were never meant to be, to the disappointment of Kuro's parents. Nevertheless, Kuro's intelligence and ability to outsmart his foes caused him to be quickly advanced past his peers. At a young age, he began to be labeled a "Special Case," and when all else failed, he would be sent into enemy strongholds alone, always coming back from the mission successful, succeeding where other entire teams would fail. He preferred it that way, handling things himself instead of being on a squad with a blushing female and a jealous counterpart, and began to consider others a liability and needless. Kuro had no specific goal or dream in mind, and never spoke of times to come. He always lived in the moment, in the "now." When others aspired to be the next Kage of the village, Kuro seemed to only desire to test his abilities in a violent environment, and further hone his skills.
No longer wanting to belong to a Hidden Village or a system of Shinobi, Kuro Nara slipped away and began to wander the world.
RP Sample: The shadows seemed to have a life all their own. No one took notice until it was far too late. People were randomly attacking each other, and themselves. People were taking their own lives, yet it was strange because they would yell and scream for help even as they slit their own throats, and cut their own bowels open to allow their insides to fall out. it seemed that all of the enemy shinobi had gone mad, losing their minds. But always, in the end, as some of them died, and the lives of them slowly slipped away, there always emerged the figure of a young man, his face expressionless, emotionless, his eyes burning crimson, evacuating the scene once all were on the ground, dead and dying.
