Early that day, just before noon. A messenger hawk marked with the insignia of the Mizukage happened to flutter to her window in a blazing dash of speed, after leaping from the backdraft guttering of a nearby townhome. The neighborhood Sylvanas lived in definitely wasn't the best of them, the houses were shoddy, mediocre and poorly maintained. Sylvanas did the best she could to spruce up the inside, having redone the flooring, walls and ceilings, as well as insulating it with a unique material her clan had invented. However, she left the outside alone. She felt as though she was no better than anyone else. Regardless of the people in the neighborhood, the outside of her home always remained the same, showing that she had a passion for people and their sensitivity to things like equality.
The hawk sqwauked, bellowing a loud chirp in the form of a rugged yell. Hawks were odd creatures, but it was plain to see why they were chosen to be messengers in the first place. Sylvanas was very analytical, and she always tried to see the reasoning behind everything. This has caused her to be very interested in things that live, and she has spent the majority of her life training physically and mentally. She excels in her intelligence, a trait that shines bright. She knows of hawks from her studies, for example, knowing hawks have four types of color receptors in the eye. These give birds the ability to perceive not only the visible range but also the ultraviolet part of the spectrum, and other adaptations allow for the detection of polarized light or magnetic field spectrums. This is due to the many photo receptors in the retina, an exceptional number of nerves connecting these receptors to the brain, and an indented fovea, which magnifies the central portion of the visual field. In addition to that, they are among the smartest species of bird in the world. She was never judgmental, but always made very cautious decisions when it came to anything, meticulous and dedicated. She took the small note, tied and sealed in wax with the insignia of the kanji for Mizukage, as well as Kirigakure. She pat the hawk on the head, nodding in an appreciate motion, and it flew from her window, a feather from its body falling into the house, landing on the floor just below the windowpane. Sylvanas was unsure of what this letter could have possibly contained, but she was extremely eager to figure it out. She practically sprinted to her bedroom, and sat upon her bed, document in hand. She untied the ribbon-like seal and broke the hardened wax adhesive. Sylvanas then proceeded to carefully unfold the parchment, the paper it was written on having a delicate, almost suede-like feeling. As she finished, her eyes read over the document, and she was getting surprised by the second. Reading on, she noted;
From what Sylvanas could gather from the mission briefing, this was a highly specialized operation that the Mizukage himself felt Sylvanas was the one shinobi who could overcome the doubtful facade of society and succeed by completing a mission of this caliber. Apparently, a group of specialized S-Rank shinobi have infiltrated Kirigakure, and there are five in number. However, there is a catch - There is a mole in the group who hasn't been heard from in the last three months, and he is considered to be missing in action. While on the mission, he has assumed a new identity, but goes by the name of Riku. Apparently, I am to eliminate all of the shinobi this group is composed of, but, yet another catch hooks on to the mind of Sylvanas. Every one of these shinobi are exclusively powerful and masters of their trade. Remiel, the apparent leader, utilizes Doton and Taijutsu. He is probably bulky and slow, but powerful. The second, Sasha, is Remiel's Lieutenant, per say, and uses a combination of Suiton and Fuuinjutsu so as to trap opponents while Remiel maintains the situation and finishes them off. The third is an odd one, Lumia. She is considered a Kenjutsu Grandmaster, world renowned, as is the legendary blade she carries. Known as
'The Sword of Hellflame', she is mostly known for her impressive Kenjutsu capabilities, aggressive Fire-Release fighting style ninjutsu, and has a reputation for beheading her opponents. Sylvanas has heard of her, and she is actually on her bingo book. The fourth, Tematsu, seems to specialize in Genjutsu and Strategizing. Apparently, he can deprive his opponents of necessary or vital instruments for survival, such as breathing through oxygen manipulation of some sort, and proceeds to finish them off by using their emotional panic to the situation by trapping them in the illusory world of Genjutsu.
The fifth was Riku, who actually happened to be an expert in archery, capable of cleaving a fly in two using an arrow while the creature was in mid-flight. Through perseverance, he has apparently gained the tremendous ability of combining his lethal marksmanship skills with the element of Lightning. Sylvanas assumed that, if he still has his charade going on, he'd still be striking to kill in order to prove he wasn't a traitor; or worse, she thought, he could have been completely brainwashed and forced to join their ranks. Either way, she'd know once she gets to where they are located. All in the same, Sylvanas would have to do a bit of top notch investigative work, information gathering and reconnaissance and intelligence briefing to figure out exactly where they are hiding out. Sylvanas would use the time given to her to finish preparing herself for combat. Dressing as a Hunter-Nin of Kirigakure, Sylvanas wore her mask with pride, and wore her outfit with an even greater emotional value attached. These pieces of clothing were more than just cloth and wool to her, more than just stitching and sewing. This raiment was a direct influence as to how she received it. Baring the mark of Kirigakure, it is a symbol for all to know that the shinobi who wears it, is highly skilled, and has earned the right to wear it. Similar to that of a normal shinobi outfit, this one consisted of the standard Hyougagakure pinstriped attire which stops at the knees. Over this, there is a green haori worn with white trimmings; and around the waist a brown sash with a fringed trail wrapped twice is seen. Light brown platoon sandals with straps in the same color as the kimono and nail polish on the fingernails and toenails in matching unison with the armor description shown above. A one of a kind mask that covers the face with a hard material, assumed metal, worn by any respectable ANBU or the person who receives it. The mask is of an elegant design, having been marked with the ANBU logo in the dead center of the mask, between the eyes. The eyes themselves are outlined in a blue highlight, two 'whiskers' coming down from above the brow line and settling on the cheek, repeated on each side. The top center of the mask has a large needle in the center, and two smaller needles going downward toward the eyes, three dots marking the eyebrows. The mouth of the mask is a keenly replicated straight smile.
It was time to help with a little tourism. Properly adorned with a series of layered clothing, her combat equipment underneath, she was prepared to start a mission anew. She walked toward the mission station, formally saluting two guards whom patrolled the small, yet heavily fortified building. The inside was roughly bleak, partially filled to the brim with paperwork. In the center of the room, a small crowd had gathered to see the wanted boards. Knowing full well that these shinobi might have a bounty on their head, she decided to listen in, but to no avail. Sylvanas had simply taken the time and waited it out for a few minutes, until the group had left the building to pursue what they had deemed was necessary at the time. Walking toward the board, she scanned its listings for something worth getting and finally found something that struck her curiosity. A group of ninja had been sighted to the northern, watered down, living quarters of Kirigakure. Her approach to this must be unorthodox, as it hadn't partained to anything worthy of a Jounin of her caliber, she figured it was a start to get her career online. Unsure of what it was, she ignored it for the time being and came across a crowd of individuals outside, Sylvanas had assumed it was probably the party which she was supposed to escort.
Walking from the small building, she pushed aside a curtain which had revealed the group of tourists, promptly dressed in accordance with the dampening and humid climate within Kirigakure. Continuing on, Sylvanas raised her hand, waving it in the air in an attempt to catch the attention of the tourists entirely, a rabid, bustling group of men and women. "Hello, hello, tourists of the world. I am going to be your tour guide, Sylvanas, and it is nothing less than an honor to be escorting you throughout the wonderful northern neighborhoods!" She'd smile, sighing at the group. This certainly was not her style. The crowd had finally managed to settle down for the time being, though one person in particular caught the eye of the kunoichi. A man, whom seemed to be balding, began murmuring things of sociological stupidity under the fowl stench he calls his breath. "God, can we hurry this up.. I'm sweating my nuts off out here." Disregarding his personal idea of how the village made him feel, she continued onward, paying attention to the more concerning tourists, asking them questions about the group of elite shinobi along the way, slipping in questions every now and again to avoid stirring a controversy. After a few hours of walking around the northern catacombs of Kirigakure, Sylvanas had managed to obtain hints, clues and intelligence about the possible location of the criminals. And according to the information she had been receiving, it sounds like they are attempting a coup'de'tat on the Mizukage. She had to stop them, and she had the perfect idea of how. She then spent a long week watching over the Mizukage's office, gathering the Mizukage's daily schedule, and planning to sabotage the shinobi going after him through disguise and deceit. Using her connections within the ANBU Black Op's headquarters, she had managed to set up a sting operation staged in the Mizukage's office. The Mizukage would be under a different form using Transformation, escape the village and hide out, and Sylvanas would take his place, utilizing her extended version of the aforementioned technique the Mizukage was using, Combination Transformation. This would allow her to replicate him down to almost every detail. Any onlooker would be fooled, and even his ANBU Operatives would be fooled by the disguise.
The investigation went on for an additional week, Sylvanas performing 'duties' as the Mizukage while the real one handles things both politically and effectively from afar. The fateful day finally came, and she sat, waiting in the office, patient. During the time she spent waiting around, she flipped open a book entitled: "The Conquerings of Viticus". Accordingly, it read.. "Viticus Hoshigaki. The famed god of death now travels to the Land of the Sea. He looked at it with weary eyes from afar - a mountain that stretched among the beautiful ocean before his, allowing his to have a clear vision of the four islands which composed its elegance. Using his Suiton Mastery at its level four potential, he jumped from the cliffside he once stood on, pulling the waters from below to wrap around the bottom part of his body in a swirling vortex. It seemed like he was truly riding a tornado made of water. The spiraling figure charged forward toward the village. Minutes later, he came rushing over the horizon of the village. Upon his sighting, an alarm could be heard thundering over the Mothis Island. Viticus would watch as about thirty well-able ninja flooded onto the beach of the giant island. Their weapons ready, they took defensive stances along the coast, many unafraid of what may happen should Viticus launch a sudden attack. This was something that he could utilize as a benefit once he claimed the village. Ninja who fight for their country and their leader. Ninja who are not afraid of death or the cold hands that present themselves to their souls. He came down from the vortex of water, crashing onto the beach directly in front of the ninja - many of them being smahed by the waves and puhed aside back into the forests from which they came. Ten ninja on each side ruhed to Viticus with all of their might, swinging and flailing their weapons wildly. He could plainly see that they weren't too trained when it came to weapons - though this was something he could work on once he became the Umikage. He activated a quadrouple formation of his renowned Utsusemi Technique, five of the water ninja now present, back to back - aside from Viticus's real figure presenting itself above the stacked solid clones, one hand to the left and the othis to the right - his eyes facing the ocean. He closed the white lookers, shut his palms and those of his clones and waited until the perfect moment to unleash his attack. Just as the sand beneath the mass of ninja shifted in front of the pyramid of kunoichi, he opened his eyes, his palms following them in their wake. Letting out a bellowing scream, air traveled through his throat and out of his mouth with supersonic capability.
Firing from his hands, airwaves shot from a paradigm of areas. With little to no enclosure or opening from the center, each side was concurrently obliterated by a series of destructive airwave torrents. Plantlife on the beach was reduced to nothingness, craters in the sand were created, water from the sea flooding into the crevices. When the brightness created by the technique had settled, the dust created by it was all that seemed to remain from the massive attack. Ninja? Whise? Thise was no longer any type of opposition before his, aside from the possibility that a Umikage had been waiting for his. A battle which he had promptly prepared for if that was the case. Surely he or he would certainly not pose any type of rational threat. He just defeated over thirty defenders of the island in the time it would take to open and shut a door. A feat not many could rival. He ran through the forests before his, sprinting toward the chambers of the Umikage. Upon arriving at the gateway to the towering building, he jumped over the gates in front of his, landing atop it with a perfectly mandated handstand. The gates being pointed, he used his abnormal skill in balance to perform a single-fingered handstand, which would accordingly send his body over the wall in a spinning motion. He landed with a slight thump, rolling to transfer the kinetic energy out of his body so he doesn't damage the muscle circulatory systems in his legs. Caution was needed, just as much as recklessness was not. He stood quickly and sprinted toward the door, jumping toward it with a scissor kick in motion. Slamming into the iron gates, they flung open to reveal an empty corridor. Scanning the area, no notable chakra signatures could be present. He was unsure if this was even the place.. But noticing a poster on the wall, he walked over to it and began reading.
It mentioned the thirty-years war and how the rebels of Demon Island staged a failed coup'd'tat on the former Umikage. Though if it was a failed attempt, whise was the Umikage? He could sense a moderate chakra signature on the top floors of the tower, though nothing that could have been compared to his own. With such theories and ideas in mind, he would quietly step up in the spiraling staircase, which lead to a cut off, furthis leading down a long hallway. Down the hall, a door in the center room could be seen - a sign with the kanji for KAGE could be seen. The door was currently unopened, seemingly locked. Through his sensory, he could tell that a ninja was in the room. Unsure of how to approach the situation, he instead staged anothis strategic deception. Something he was famous for. Tricking his enemies. He had the four solid clones he previously created head toward the tower themselves, sprinting along the forest until they reached the tower. They scaled the towers` side, climbing to the very top, whise the Kage office window was located. Viticus activated his Hidden Mist, which would travel through the halls at a moderate speed, turning the darkness it once had to a foggy depiction. The mist seeped under the door of the office and soon enough filled it with the blinding smoke. Viticus hisself waited at the end of the hall, his hands as a whole expanded and pointing directly at the door in case the ninja inside attempted an escape with his date with death. One by one, the clones jumped through the window with exceedingly flamboyant speed. The person inside however was not the Umikage. He wasn't even a ninja at all, let alone a Kage. Viticus ran from the hallway and kicked the door open, dispersing the fog. By the time he had reached him, all four clones had him held down against the bookhelf in the back of the corridor. He seemed to be pleading for his life, tears barely surfacing from his eyes.
"Who are you and why are you in the Umikage Chambers?" He asked. "I will only ask this once." He stared at his. "P.. Please.. I'm not the Umikage. He left this village long ago, fearing his imminent death.. It was only a m-matter of time.. Before the rebels would have performed anothis attack!" Viticus nodded his head. "I see.. And where are the rebels now?" He'd ask out of curiosity. If he did take control over the village, they may be something he'd have to be aware of so he can kill them off so as to prevent and uprising. "T-They went after him.. They left when the Umikage boarded a ship and sailed north! Its been over twenty years.. The rebels as well as the U-Umikage haven't been seen since then!" He began crying and wimpering pathetically, taking pauses in breath. "P-Please.. L-Let me go! I'm only the governor! The village is yours - j-just.. Please! Let me live!" Viticus would consider the possibility of letting him go. Finally, he came to his decision. "Very well.." The clones would let him go, as he'd drop to his knees, looking directly up at Viticus. "You may leave.. You can eithis choose to leave the island, or become a citizen under the commandment of me - Viticus Hoshigaki. Legend and the Sage of Steel." Without hesitation, he nodded and scurried to his feet, falling several times before finally making his balance stable. He ran out of the room with speed that even surprised Viticus. Laughingly, he looked at him, and turned back toward the window. He could see the sun finally setting over the horizon. The clouds above the ocean seemed to reflect a spider-webbed look that captured the island in its malevolent elegance. He'd smile, the takeover being complete. He would sit in the chair at the desk of the Umikage Office, two clones to his left and the othis two at his right. "For thy country. For thy people. For thy honor, I fight. All hail the Emperor of the Sea. Yamakage Viticus Hoshigaki." Thus, the end of the story. She closes the book and continues to wait.
Regardless of the skill level of these shinobi, Sylvanas thought she could handle them. She had taken on entire platoons of raiders and pillaging bandits. All of this, however, was capable due to her extensive training regime. Over the years, naturally, it has gradually gotten more difficult, but this is done by her every single day, alongside her mentor and Sensei, Reynado. The regime consists of an initial two hours of combat comprehension, where he will throw punches and kicks at Sylvanas. She must choose to either dodge, counter or defend and block. If she was hit, they would start over. Following, an additional three hours of cardio and reflex training, where Sylvanas would run as far and as fast as she possibly could within a three hour period, dodging and evading trees, jumping up and down cliffs, and avoiding traps that Reynado had laid out for her throughout the time she spent on the designated course permitted for her travel route. This is followed by bodily stamina and defense training, where Sylvanas will lift her shirt above her belly and tuck it beneath her bra, and he will throw a series of punches, kicks, hooks and jabs into her midsection to test the muscle and allow it to recuperate effectively. Finally, all of this brutal work is wrapped up with five hours of technique comprehension and strategic evasion training. He will launch series after series of jutsu at her, and she must discern the intention behind the technique, dodge, evade, coounter, or pursue it aggresively depending on the options that are presented or given to her when the techique is intially being launched. If she is hit with a technique or caught off guard, they'd start over. Yes, the regime was extremely difficult, something that many people don't go through, let alone a little girl. But this is what Sylvanas chose for her life. In order to become the best.
Sylvanas had finally came to the decision to activate the Water Clone Technique, after she had activated the sensory technique she had developed, Henkanshi: Mizushiteki (Sensory Element: Water Identification). Following up, beforehand, she had activated the Hidden Mist Technique, engulfing a large area in the pearly white blanket. By gathering and focusing chakra to her hands, Sylvanas can essentially 'see' anything a previously launched Water Jutsu is covering, as long as the range of the technique remains within the boundary permitted. As the pulse traveled through the molecules of water, it sent a rippling effect throughout the Mist, though this was very faint and highly difficult to hear. Since this wavelength bounches off of things it touches, the wave is rebounded, and sent back to where it had originated. She now had direct locations of each of the shinobi approaching the office at a high speed. Before Sylvanas had sat down in the office and waited for the shinobi after all this time, she had arranged kunai in the necessary cardinal directions for a technique within the office. Sylvanas had been hiding in the room to the south-east of the office, but since she could see the area using the water sensory jutsu, as well as the Water Clone, she can attack when it was necessary without being in the office herself. In addition to this, she rearranged the office to set it up in the formation of cardinal points, allowing her to stay in the same spot without giving away the location of the final kunai.
As the shinobi approached, the door was busted in, and the windows destroyed and shattered as they fell to the ground. One by one they entered the room, staring at Sylvanas` clone. Her clone looked back at them, a deranged smile upon its face. "Game over." The clone yelled. Both the clone and Sylvanas then activated the technique. "Lightning Release: Limelight!" Due to Sylvanas` uniquely colored red chakra, the lightning was a beautiful display of reds and whites. The lightning arose from the floor and covered the entirety of the office, fourty five meters in size. Considering the Mist had been present, especially in such density, the clothing of the shinobi whom entered would have been soaked by the water present, also covering their skin accordingly. All of the conductivity produced a brilliant spark of life-ending brilliance, the shinobi screaming as the lightning tore through their bodies, incinerating them, and turning them to dust soon after. Their ashes were present, scattered all over the office. She was successful, and the staged trap worked. All of her hard work had finally paid off it would seem. She took the necessary steps to repair the office of the Mizukage, and then proceeded to collect her rewards for the mission.
