He seems to be laid back, and a bit cynical and sarcastic, even if it's just the way that he talks or moves. About You!
Personality: On the surface, Kurame seems to be a shallow and self-absorbed man, infamous among many of his colleagues for the selfish and narcissistic aura he gives off. He is wont to act in an ostentatious manner and appears to act mostly out of self-interest rather than any sort of charity, and he comes off to most as a sort of cocky, lazy asshole, shirking most of his duties and delegating his desk job missions to lower ranking ninja while sitting idly with them, sporting an amused smile on his face as he procrastinates, but quick to take action when it appears that there is glory and notoriety to be gained. Kurame is expertly manipulative and prone to think several steps ahead of those around him, giving him a remarkable talent for making ninja act exactly as he wishes despite appearing not to have had a hand in their decisions.
Kurame also has the reputation of being an incorrigible womanizer, and it's said he spends much of his time cavorting about town with various women, wooing them with his abundant charm, good looks and charisma. This adds another facet to his unpopularity among the enlisted men, many of whom have had their sweethearts and crushes romanced away from them by his hand.
However, while these traits do have a place in his real personality, much of his outward persona can perhaps be considered an intentional façade perfectly designed to cause those unfamiliar with him to underestimate his remarkable intelligence and ability. Kurame is an exceptional tactician, well-versed in various strains of combat theory and particularly talented in the realms of surreptitious information-gathering, covert operations and enemy ensnarement.
At the core, he is a remarkably devoted shinobi whose primary focus and personal duty is to his friends and teammates. Though he hides it well behind a veil of cynicism and self-importance, Kurame Nara is a man who cares deeply about the people who trust and support him and goes to great lengths to ensure their safety and well-being, even at the risk of his own. As a man with considerable power, the Nara considers himself a protector to those without and acts accordingly, earning the staunch loyalty of his most trusted companions.
Likes: As much as this may surprise anyone that meets this man, Kurame enjoys having people to be with him as friends. Though he usually acts better than everyone, he always wishes for someone that he could spend time with, and act friendly and causal around, and that he could overall just talk to. He also likes practicing jutsu, usually fighting giant animals in a dense forest or desert, but also occasionally on peers or friends, if he makes any. Kurame enjoys most of all, hot buns and ramen. He tells himself that he could survive off of those delicious foods his entire life, and he always can be found at a stall or ramen place, spending money on delicious treats, when he's not busy with one of his other obsessions, which is making girls fall for him, and breaking their hearts.
Dislikes: Kurame dislikes being undermined or told that he's not as good as someone else of the same rank, even if it's true. He also dislikes most of the other people from his clan, not being able to get along with them easily, feeling threatened by their similarity. He also hates getting deep wounds that leave marks, and, because of this, Kurame even occasinally tries to shy away from any fights with someone wielding a weapon, or someone having an especially strong body to use taijutsu. He also dislikes having to compete with other people for a special spot or rank, causing him to get into some fights over nothing.
Motivations: As terrible as it sounds, Kurame is mainly motivated by the fact that he can be better than other people, but, on a better note, also making sure his comrades and friends are protected. He always tries training and doing missions because he knows he'll either advance through the ninja ranks, or he'll become stronger, faster, more quick to react, more perceptive, and have more endurance. He can also be motivated by the ability to show off a brand new jutsu, leaping into a fight that he might have no chance in just to show off a shadow technique that can pierce through someone a thousand times or another jutsu of the like. He's also motivated by reward of ryo, or reward of status, taking on jobs and missions even if he doesn't agree with the employer's motives or standing in society.
Fears: Kurame is terrified of dying. Because of this, he always takes cautions to try to disguise his ailments if he's ever sick, and to product any places that would be easy to hit or hurt with armor, or jutsu. He's also afraid of most Kage, because, even though he knows if he's Kage he would be better, they're still immensely powerful, quick, resistant, and overall almost godlike, with jutsu being able to wipe out almost an entire village. Kurame is also afraid of meeting up with someone of his own clan, because he knows that he wouldn't be able to hold back his temper, and he also knows that he would be tempted to attack them if they were trying to prove that they had better jutsu than him.
History: Kurame was born in a small house in his village. His parents were both loving and caring, balancing out their work and attention to their son, being the ideal parents for anyone.
Kurame had a fever when he was 2, almost killing his, and leaving his with his right ear unable to hear as well as his other one, but he doesn't let it bother him, since he was just glad that he survived. After that, he was more of a quiet child, more dedicated to observing the world around him then to let it hear his voice.
When he was 3, that was the first time that he had ever seen anything ninja or ninjutsu related, and he thought it was awesome, waving his little hands and cheering. This made his father buy some jutsu books, for his to look at or to study when he grew older, if he was still as interested in them as he was now.
When Kurame was 4, he began talking a lot, much to the pleasure of his parents. He started saying full words at this age, and would play often with toys, sometimes getting lost in his own worlds with the dolls and puppets, and little pitch black dolls that would darken the light, and light up in the dark.
When he was 5, his father and mother decided, when they noticed he was running around the village all day, he would be aloud to work at his shop as the delivery girl, and he was ecstatic. Who wouldn't like getting paid for running around all day, if that's what they loved? Though, sometimes, he would eat some of the goods, which would get him in trouble.
At age 6, he would stand outside the shop, and give food to any stranger that he thought looked hungry, and all of which thanked hhim, and seemed to be happier. This made Kurame feel very special and happy. One day, when he was doing so, his grandmother complimented on his kindness, and then gave him a gift of a small toy with a little token on the end, which Kurame would play with nonstop.
When he was 9, he began to look into the arts of ninjutsu, occasionally looking through books with his father about all the different kind of genjutsu, and how to control them, and such.
When he entered the academy, he wasn't that great of a student, always talking back and being a smart aleck, but his quick learning ability always gave him decent grades, and thus he graduated soon after, at age 10.
As soon as Kurame graduated from the academy, he had blown off all of his responsibility as a ninja for 5 years, and when he started training himself again, he realized he was so out of it that he had to train for 2 years to recuperate for the time that he spent away from all of his duties.
RP Sample:It's the afternoon, that much Kurame knew, but the exact time was a mystery.
Looking up into the afternoon sky, the man sighs, thinking about everything that was happening and everything that was. Right now, he was wearing a white tank top, and over that, a navy blue sweater, and he smiled slightly, snuggling into the warm, safe folds of fabric. Looking down into a puddle, his smile is removed almost instantly, transforming into a grin as her looked at himself. Those eyes. That hair. Sexy as hell. Taking his eyes away from the water, he looked up into the sky again, sighing. Looking at a nearby guidance sign, he had an idea, and began walking. Maybe, just maybe, he could run away from this village. Almost tripping over a stick, he growled, stepping over it carefully, and looking, and, in the distance, he could see the large, looming gate of Konoha, and the guards surrounding it. Yes, he would have to leave now. Since most of them were gone away for lunch, or for some other duty, there were only about three or four. Stopping suddenly, Kurame hears a loud-- and quite frankly, annoying-- tapping sound coming from the location right above he was about to dash from. Backing up, he looked up, noticing another ninja there. He quickly noted and kept the information that he seemed to have a carefree air about him, and, squinting his eyes a bit, noticed that he had bruises, and his clothing was slightly worn and torn in some places, and overall he looked like he had gotten in a lot of fights before. "Excuse me." He called up to him, the tapping beginning to dig away at his ears. "Will you stop tapping, please?" Kurame said, being surprised by the sound of his own voice, as he hadn't heard it for at least a few days, burying his head in his 'work'. "It's annoying."
